How to join a Zoom meeting or video doctor visit

For: Any phone, tablet or computer

Last checked October 14, 2026 against official help from Zoom. Written for Zoom Workplace app and web browser.

Zoom is a common way to video call with family, groups and doctors. You can join with a link in a few clicks.

This page is for you if

  • Someone sent you a Zoom link
  • You have a video visit with your doctor
  • You were given a meeting ID and passcode

Do these steps

  1. Step 1: Find the invite

Open the email, text or calendar invite. Look for the link under Join Zoom Meeting.

  2. Step 2: Click or tap the link

Zoom asks to open the Zoom app. If you don't have the app, you can choose Join from your browser instead, if the host allows it.

  3. Step 3: Allow camera and microphone

If it asks, click or tap Allow so people can see and hear you.

  4. Step 4: Type your name and join

Check your sound and video, then click Join. You may wait in a waiting room until the host lets you in. That's normal.

Only have a meeting ID?

  1. Step 1: Go to Zoom's join page

Open your web browser and go to join.zoom.us.

  2. Step 2: Type the meeting ID

Type the meeting ID the host gave you and click Join. Type the passcode if it asks.

Good to know

  • You don't need a Zoom account to join someone else's meeting.
  • Many meetings also have a phone number in the invite. You can call it, then type the meeting ID and passcode on the keypad.
