About The Tech Grandkid
Lots of people have a grandkid who can fix their phone in ten seconds. Not everyone has one nearby. That's who we're for.
Buster is our helpful grandkid. Tell Buster what's going on in your own words, like "my phone says it's full," and Buster finds the fix. Each fix is one job on one kind of device, written in big, simple steps. We cover phones, tablets and iPads, Windows and Mac computers, printers, TVs, Bluetooth and hearing aids, Wi-Fi, and online accounts.
How we write each fix
- We check every step against the maker's own help page, and we link to it.
- Each page says when we last checked it and which software it's for.
- If a step could delete something, we warn you before you start.
- Every page prints on one sheet of paper, so you can keep it by the phone or computer.
Scam alerts
Scammers go after older adults with fake calls, texts and pop-ups. Our weekly scam alert explains the newest trick in plain words. We only use warnings from the FTC and FBI, and we link to them.
For families
If you're the one who gets the "can you help me with my phone" calls, send a fix to Mom or Dad with one tap. Each page has buttons to text, email or print it.
How we'll pay for this
The help on this site is free and has no ads. We plan to offer a paid gift membership and to have one clearly labeled sponsor in the weekly email. We'll never sell your information.
