The words on your iPhone or iPad are too small. Here's how to make them bigger.

For: iPhone or iPad

Last checked October 14, 2026 against official help from Apple. Written for iOS 27 and iPadOS 27.

You can make the words bigger across most of your iPhone or iPad. It takes about a minute and you can change it back any time.

This page is for you if

  • The words are hard to read
  • Texts and emails look tiny
  • You need your glasses for everything

Do these steps

  1. Step 1: Open Settings

Tap the Settings app. It's the gray gear.

  2. Step 2: Tap Display & Brightness

    Tap Display & Brightness.

  3. Step 3: Tap Text Size

    Tap Text Size.

  4. Step 4: Drag the slider

Drag the slider to the right to make words bigger. Stop when the words are easy to read.

Still too small. Make it even bigger.

  1. Step 1: Open Accessibility

Go back to Settings and tap Accessibility.

  2. Step 2: Tap Display & Text Size

    Tap Display & Text Size.

  3. Step 3: Tap Larger Text

Tap Larger Text to get even bigger sizes.

  4. Step 4: Drag the slider

Drag the slider until the words are easy to read.

Good to know

  • This works in Mail, Contacts, Calendar, Phone, Notes and other apps that follow your text size setting.
  • Apple warns that very large text can make some buttons hard to tap. If that happens, go back and move the slider a little to the left.
